20 Startups Presented at Smart Cities Accelerator Demo Day

The demo day event for the Smart Cities and Sustainability acceleration programs of Başakşehir Living Lab Incubation Center, managed by in4startups, was successfully held.
A total of 20 entrepreneurs who successfully completed the two acceleration programs delivered their presentations. The event was opened and moderated by in4startups co-founder Şerafettin Özsoy. Several mentors and investors who supported the program attended the demo day, including Bekir Temel Selçuk from Başakşehir Municipality, Ömer Karabayraktar from Başakşehir Living Lab, Emre Tonkuş from Askon, Emre Yılmaz from Narfon, Abdurrahman Çam from Kültepe Yatırım, Elif Boz Ulutaş from Bursa Eskişehir Bilecik Development Agency, and Kenan Altun from Fon Kolay.
One of the key aspects of both acceleration programs is the opportunity for successful startups to collaborate with Başakşehir Municipality. Startups whose services align with the municipality’s procurement needs will be supported by becoming their first customers. This initiative allows startups to generate revenue through sales while also gaining a valuable reference customer.
To facilitate this collaboration, directors from various municipal departments, including financial services, public works, cultural and social affairs, urban planning, health services, and licensing and inspection, provided mentorship throughout the program. Additional training was also given on municipal procurement procedures.
The program quickly produced tangible results, as many startups began engaging with municipal officials to initiate service procurement processes even before demo day. During their presentations, the startups updated the jury on the progress of these collaborations.
Başakşehir Municipality is also looking to establish long-term partnerships and make investments in successful startups that align with its service needs. The municipality has already invested in three startups, and discussions about investing in high-potential startups from the Smart Cities and Sustainability acceleration programs are ongoing. The startups selected for investment will be announced at the Future Promising Startups 24 competition awards ceremony and the Startup Investment Summit on December 2, 2023.
